Second Straight Top 20 Finish At The Griak

ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/29/12)— For the third straight year Concordia posted a top 20 team finish at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Cobbers had two runners finish in the top 100 and placed 20th as a team on Saturday.

Senior Tanner Sakrismo and junior Brad McConn led the way for Concordia at the meet that featured 27 teams and almost 300 runners. It marked the third straight meet that Sakrismo has been the pace setter for the Cobbers. He finished in a time of 27:01.9 and placed 41st. His finishing time is the fastest of the season on an 8k course and it is also his fastest time at the Roy Griak. McConn raced to a time of 27:54.5 and was in 85th place. Like Sakrismo, it was a season-best time for McConn. His previous season best was 27:35 at the St. John's Invite on Sept. 8.

Scott Anderson, Henry Dobbs and Jeff Emery were the other three Concordia runners that factored into the team score. All three runners finished within 15-seconds of one another and all were only separated by six places. Anderson led the trio with a time of 29:13.5 and was 133rd in the race. Dobbs finished  in 29:26.9 and Emery was less than one seconds behind at 29:27.2.

Concordia will continue training for the MIAC Championship Meet and will have an extended break before returning to competition again. The Cobbers will compete at the Jimmie Inviational hosted by Jamestown College on Friday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. at the Hillcrest GC.
