Rhonemus Vaults To 3rd At MIAC Decathlon

NORTHFIELD (5/07/21)---Sophomore Wade Rhonemus used a personal best in the pole vault to move up several places in the standings and finished third in his first-ever MIAC Decathlon. Senior teammate Zach Paustian capped his conference multi-event career by placing 13th in the event held at Carleton College.

Rhonemus finished with a personal-best total of 5914 points while Paustian also recorded a PR and ended the 2-day event with 5,293 points.  

Rhonemus' vault of 13-11.75 in the pole vault was one of six events where he scored over 600 points. His height in the pole vault also tied for the top mark among the 16 competitors and was one of six events where he finished in the Top 5 of the event.

Rhonemus' top scoring event was the very first on Day 1. He raced to an 11.67 in the 100-meter dash and scored 717 points. Rhonemus also had the top mark in the discus on Day 2 when he came up with a throw of 91-03.

Rhonemus also scored over 600 points in the long jump, 400 meters, 110-meter hurdles and 1500 meters.

Paustian posted a trio of Top 5 finished which came on Day 2. He was fifth in both the pole vault and javelin and had the top mark in the discus when he posted a distance of 115-05.  .

Like Rhonemus, Paustian's top-scoring event was the 100-meter dash where he ran a 11.72 and scored 707 points. His other 600-point plus event was the 110-meter hurdles where he finished in a time of 17.11 which scored 613 points.
