Supinski Shines In Shortened Opener

SIOUX CUTY, Iowa (4/12/18)---The sun came out for a brief moment to shine briefly on the weather-shortened Sioux City Relays. Junior David Supinski was the lone ray of sunshine in the season-opening meet which was trimmed from a two-day meet to a one-day affair because of the impending snow storm forecasted for the area.

Supinski recorded the top finish of any competitor at the meet that had most of the field events cancelled because they were slated to run on the second day of the meet.

Supinski sped to a 50.67 in the 400 meters in the outdoor opener to claim fifth place in the meet that was mainly Division I and Division II athletes. His time is in the top 15 of the conference this season.

Supinski also competed in the 800 meters and clocked a 1:57.58 to finish in 14th place. His time in the 800 is eighth best in the conference this season.

Concordia only had four other track athletes compete in the meet. Connor Haugrud and Hans Frank-Holzen ran in the 800 meters while Olsen Pancoast competed in the 5000 meters and Jacob Probst crossed the finish line in the 110-meter hurdles.

The top finish in field events came from Probst who flew 40-07 in the triple jump and had the only other Top 10 finish at the meet. He placed 10th but his distance is currently fourth farthest in the MIAC this year.

Senior Adam Frazier had a pair of conference Top 15 marks at the outdoor opener. Frazier went for 43-05.25 in the shot put and finished 16th. He then recorded a distance of 141-00 in the hammer throw and was 21st. Frazier's mark in the discus is in the No.10 spot in the MIAC while his distance in the hammer is 12th farthest in the conference.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will have to wait on the weather to see when their next meet will be. More than likely the next time they step into a competitive meet is when they host the annual Cobber Twilight Meet on Tuesday, Apr. 24.
