One Stage Left To Shine On

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/21/15)—There is only one stage left for Concordia junior Brandon Zylstra to shine on. Zylstra will try to make the same splash at the NCAA Outdoor Championship Meet that he made at the MIAC Indoor and Outdoor Meets.

Zylstra, who earned the Outstanding Field Athlete Award at both the conference indoor and outdoor meets, will compete in the high jump at the NCAA Meet on Saturday, May 23 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

Zylstra is the first Cobber men's track and field athlete to compete at the NCAA National Outdoor Meet since 2011when Caleb Giesen participated in the decathlon.

Zylstra qualified for the NCAA Meet at the MIAC Championship Meet when he cleared 6-10.75 and finished second in the high jump. That mark broke the school record of 6-09.00 set in 2000 and tied for the top mark in the conference. Unfortunately Zylstra had more misses at lesser heights and placed second.

Zylstra's qualifying height of 6-10.75 is currently tied for the fourth best in all of Division III.

Zylstra will attempt to become the first Cobber men's track and field All-American since 2002 when Joe Schmidgall earned the award by finishing seventh in the decathlon.

The high jump at the NCAA National Outdoor Meet will take place on Saturday, May 23 at 2:30 p.m.
