Cobber Heptathlon Opens Indoor Season

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/28/12)—Brad Johnson started his junior multi-event season by finishing third in the Cobber heptathlon on Saturday. Johnson saved his best event for last as he scored 709 points in the 1000-meter run by clocking a time of 2:55.51.

Johnson started the competition by posted a time of 7.59 in the 60-meter dash. He scored 684 points for the effort. He also cracked the 600-point mark in the 60-meter hurdles by finishing in a time of 9.66.

Caleb Giesen, who qualified for the NCAA National Meet in the decathlon last season, dropped out of the event after four events. Giesen scored in the 500's in the first four events but did not finish the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000 meters.
