The Cobbers found the waters of Lake Superior a little cold and icy on their doubleheader weekend in Duluth. Concordia fell 6-3 to St. Scholastica on Saturday and was blanked by UW-Superior on Sunday.

Sometimes the path to success comes in small steps rather than large strides. That was the case in Concordia’s non-conference match with Northwestern. The Cobbers lost 7-2 to the Eagles in 2023, but on Saturday the two teams battled toe-to-toe before Concordia lost a heartbreaking 5-4 decision.

Kai Pierce and Logan Sandberg capped their successful freshmen seasons by being named to the MIAC All-Conference Team in singles play. The two are the first Cobber freshmen to earn All-MIAC honors in singles play since 2015, when Isaac Toivonen claimed the award.

It was an identical 2-match storyline for the Cobbers in their conference matches against St. John’ and Hamline over the weekend. Concordia lost by identical 6-3 scores to the Johnnies and Pipers, and got their wins from the standout freshmen duo of Logan Sandberg and Kai Pierce.
