Pierce & Sandberg Named CSC Academic All-District

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/17/24)--- Kai Pierce (Fargo, N.D./Fargo Oak Grove HS) and Logan Sandberg (Grand Forks, N.D./Grand Forks Central HS) capped their sophomore seasons by being named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

It is the first time for both student-athletes to earn CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors.

The 2024 Academic All-District Men's Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

In order to be eligible for the accolade, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50, and must have been in the lineup for 70 percent of the total matches played by their team that included team scores.

Pierce receives Academic All-District honors on the footsteps of being named to the MIAC All-Conference Team for the second straight season. Pierce finished the 2024 campaign with a team-high seven singles wins, including a 5-4 mark in conference play. Pierce also record six doubles wins.

Sandberg played as the Cobbers' No.1 singles player for the second straight season. He came away with five singles wins and played in all 17 matches.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
