Cobbers Fall At Regionally-Ranked Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. (2/27/15)—Concordia dropped an 8-1 decision to regionally-ranked Chapman in their lone dual match on their spring break training trip to California.

The Cobbers' lone win on the day against the Panthers, who are ranked 11th in the latest ITA West Region rankings, came at No.1 doubles where freshmen Isaac Toivonen and David Schneck were paired together for the first time all season. Toivonen and Schneck showed instant chemistry together by pounding out a decisive 8-2 win over a doubled team that had already had three matches under their belts this season.

The other closest doubles match on the day came at No.2 doubles where the newly formed tandem of Zach Zitur and Jesse Schneeberger lost 8-2.

Toivonen played in the tightest singles match of the afternoon.  He had a quick turnaround from his doubles win and lost a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No.1 singles. He is now 2-2 on the season and leads the Cobbers in singles wins.

Concordia will return from the warm weather of California and play the University of North Dakota on Friday, Mar. 6 in Grand Forks.
