Cobbers Cap Off Florida Trip

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (3/01/14)—Concordia capped off their spring break trip to Florida by falling 8-1 to Coe (Iowa). The Cobbers' lone victory against the Kohawks came from the doubles tandem of Jesse Schneeberger and Zach Zitur.

Concordia finishes off their Florida swing with a 1-3 record. CC is now 1-7 on the season.

Schneeberger and Zitur earned an 8-5 victory at the No.2 doubles spot. It was the tandem's first doubles win of the season and the team's fourth doubles victory of the early season.  The Cobbers dropped a close match at No.3 doubles with Austin Storm and Tyler Halvorson and headed to singles play trailing 2-1.

The closest singles match of Saturday came at No.6 singles where Matthew Jacobson lost 7-6, 6-3. Zach Biggar lost 6-3, 6-2 at No.5 singles.

The other two matches in Florida were a 9-0 loss to No.24-ranked Davenport and a 7-0 loss to Division I Mount St. Mary's. Against Davenport, Zitur the No.1 CC singles player, fell 6-2, 6-2. Against Mount St. Mary's it was the doubles crew that provided the highlights. Biggar and Sam Smith lost 8-3 at No.1 doubles and Schneeberger and Zitur lost 8-3 at No.2 doubles.

Concordia will return home and head back to conference play when they travel to St. Peter to take on No.18-ranked Gustavus.
