2013 Ends With Home-And-Away Double Dip

ST. PAUL, Minn. (4/28/13)—Concordia finished off the 2013 season by dropping a home-and-away conference double dip over the weekend. The Cobbers fell 7-2 at home to Bethel on Saturday and then dropped a 9-0 decision at Macalester on Sunday.

The Cobbers close out the 2013 campaign with a 4-13 overall record and a 1-8 mark in conference play. CC finished the year by losing six of their final matches.

The bright spots for the Cobbers over the weekend came against Bethel where Concordia got a singles win from freshman Zach Zitur and a doubles win from the senior/freshman tandem of Peter Dahlberg and Nick Moe at No.2 doubles. Zitur picked up a straight set 6-3, 6-2 win at No.5 singles. The victory is his team-leading seventh of the season. He finished his first collegiate season at 7-9 and won two of his final four matches. Dahlberg and Moe won three of their final four matches on the season and had a 6-10 record at No.2 doubles. The six doubles wins tied for the most on the team.

Sunday's match against the Scots proved the old adage, "you can't judge a book by its cover." While CC dropped all nine matches, three singles matches went to the super-set tie-breaker and two of the doubles matches were won by three or fewer games.

The super-set losses were turned in by Devin Larson, Moe and Zitur. Larson, playing at No.2 singles had the closest of the three overtime losses. He fell 10-7 in the super set. Moe and Zitur finished 2013 with tied for the team lead in conference wins. Both players had three MIAC victories on the year.
