MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/26/17)---Concordia gave up a goal in the second minute of play and then two goals in 57-seconds and lost 3-1 to No.21-ranked Macalester.

The three first-half goals sent the Cobbers to their second straight loss while the Scots remain unbeaten in their last six games.

Despite digging a three-goal hole, Concordia almost climbed out when they scored in the 35th minute and then had several quality chances in the second half including a breakaway where the CC attacker appeared to be taken down in the penalty area but no call was made.

Macalester (6-2-1/3-0-0 MIAC) got on the board in the second minute of play on a rebound chance that was knocked into the net at 1:31. The Scots doubled their lead at 23:23 when a long service into the Concordia penalty area was played back to an open Macalester forward who buried a one-time shot under the crossbar.

The tale of two penalties opened when a Cobber defender took down a Scot in the penalty area and Macalester was awarded a penalty kick. The Scots converted the ensuing kick to take a 3-0 lead at 24:20 – just 57-seconds after their second goal.

Concordia would finally settle down in the next five minutes and then started a possible comeback at 34:11 when junior Spencer Lancaster headed home a crossing pass from Henry Schafer. Justin Froslie also picked up an assist on Lancaster's first goal of the year.

Concordia's had a pair of quality chances around the 60-minute mark. The first came when Aronah Mukhtar got played in behind the Macalester defense on a pass from Jacob Schmidt. Mukhtar was behind the last defender and into the penalty area. Mukhtar went to take a shot on goal but there was a collision with the defender and nothing came of the incident as the Cobbers' penalty tale went unread.

The Cobbers then had an open chance less than a minute later when Wyatt Holwagner was open from six yards out but his diving header was stopped by the Scot goalie.

The momentum continued to go in favor of the Cobbers when a Macalester was given a yellow card and then a red card and was sent off at the 61:28 mark.

Concordia had more chances in the final 25 minutes with the best coming from a pair of dead balls at the top of the Scot penalty area.

Macalester held an 8-4 edge in total shots and a 6-2 margin in shots on goal. The Cobbers had four different players with a shot in the game.

Cobber keeper Jackson Carr made three saves in the game.
