3 Players Earn MIAC Postseason Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/10/16)—Three Concordia players earned MIAC postseason honors after the Cobbers posted their highest overall win total since 2012.

Senior goalie Ben Glogoza was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while sophomore Austin Peterson earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Honors and junior Jacob Schmidt was the team's selection t to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

The three players helped Concordia finish the year with a 6-11-1 overall record which included a 5-2-1 record in non-conference games. The Cobbers finished the year by winning two of their final four games.

It is the second straight season for Glogoza and Schmidt to earn postseason recognition. Last year Glogoza came away with All-Conference Honorable Mention honors and Schmidt was also selected to the Sportsmanship Team.

Glogoza becomes the first Concordia player to earn All-Conference honors since the 2013 season. He was also the first Cobber player to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors since 2012 when he captured the award on Sept. 12. Glogoza was the team's starting goalie in nine of the 10 league games. He finished the year with 56 saves and had a 2.09 goals against average in conference play. He was second in the MIAC in saves in conference contests.

Glogoza  had 99 saves in all games which led the MIAC. He posted his second lowest season goals against average in his four-year career at Concordia. He played in 14 of the 18 games in 2016 and carded a 1.59 GAA.

Glogoza ended his career with 282 saves and had a goals against average of 1.94. He played in 51 games and racked up 4,409 minutes between the pipes.

Peterson transferred to Concordia this year and made an immediate impact on the field. He started all 10 league games and played in all 18 overall games in 2016. Peterson anchored the defense for the first two-thirds of the season and was then moved to the front line to help the Cobber offense.

After moving to forward for the final six games of the year Peterson scored two goals and two assists and finished with six points. He led the team in scoring in league play with two goals and an assist for five points. Peterson was tied for second on the team in overall points with two goals and two assists for six points.
