A Rainy Season Finale

DULUTH, Minn. (10/31/15)—A pair of goals less than four minutes apart in the first half proved to be the difference maker in Concordia's 3-0 loss to Wis.-Superior on the 2015 season finale.

The game, which was moved to Duluth and played in a driving rain storm, puts a cap on the Cobbers' season. CC finishes the year with a 4-14-0 record. The Yellowjackets win for the third straight game and fourth time in the last five. They are now 15-5-0 overall.

The Cobbers were tied with the Yellowjackets until the 27th minute of play when Superior struck for their first goal. The eventual game-winning goal came courtesy of one of Concordia's specialties the long throw-in. The Yellowjackets had a throw-in deep in the Cobber end and the toss was headed into the net by an open Yellowjacket attacker.

The second goal came at 30:22 when Superior was able to get the ball on the right wing and an attacker fired a low shot towards the left corner of the net. Cobber goalie Ben Glogoza made the initial save but an unmarked forward was standing in front of goal and tapped the ball into the vacated net.

Concordia tried to press for their first goal of the game in the second half but was never able to get an open chance in front of the net. The Yellowjackets closed out the scoring in the final five minutes of play when they added a third at the 86:32 mark.

Concordia was outshot 25-11 in the game in total shots and the Yellowjackets had a 16-3 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore Jacob Schmidt had a team-high two shots for the Cobbers and finishes the season with 18 which is tied for second best on the squad.

Glogoza made 11 saves in the game which is a season high. Glogoza finished the year with 81 saves in his 14 games played. That total is the second most in the MIAC this year.
