NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/27/14)— A three-goal first half by St. Olaf led to the eighth straight defeat to start the season for the Cobbers. Concordia conceded three goals in the first 27 minutes of play and lost 4-1.

It was the worst possible start for Concordia as they were already trying to fill the hole left by the absence of senior captain Jon Tetlie who broke his nose in practice on Friday. The Cobbers fell behind in the eighth minute of play and then allowed a second at the 17:58 mark.

Concordia responded with a goal less than three minutes later and was within one at 2-1 at the 25-minute mark of the opening half. Freshman Roland Oyou netted his second goal of the season when he poached home a rebound after a CC deadball was served towards the back post.

Unfortunately for the Cobbers the one-goal deficit would last for only five minutes until the Oles were able to push the cushion back to two goals with a tally at 26:18.

St. Olaf held a 7-4 edge in total shots in the first half with a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.

The second half was more of a back-and-forth affair as the Cobbers were able to up their intensity level and create some more chances.

The teams were even in total shots for the second period at 4-4. CC enjoyed a 2-0 advantage in shots on goal for the final 45 minutes of play.

Oyou led all players with three total shots and two shots on goal.

Concordia goalie Ben Glogoza came away with a single save in the game.

The Cobbers will set their sights on Augsburg when they host the Auggies on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 1:30 p.m.
