Rice, Forston and Flack Earn All-MIAC Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/08/12)—Jared Rice, Michael Forston and Justin Flack were all named to the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team it was announced on Thursday. It is the third time in the last four years that the Cobbers have had three players earn conference postseason honors. All three earn their first-ever all-conference award.

Matt Glogoza, who was named to the Capital One Academic All-Conference Team earlier in the week, was named the team's representative to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Rice led the team in scoring in conference games. He finished the league season with nine points in 10 games. He had four goals and one assist and started all 10 conference contests. Rice had a season-high two goals in Concordia's 3-0 win at Bethel on Oct. 13. He also poached goals against Hamline and St. Mary's. Rice finished with a career-high 16 points in all games. He had six goals and four assists.

Fortson, the team's dynamic right wing, was second on the team in scoring in league and overall contests. He also finished with career highs in points, goals and assists. Forston entered the season with one career goal and one career assist. His top game of the season came in the second-to-last game of the year against Augsburg when he scored both of the team's two goals and continually provided dangerous chances throughout the game.  Forston finished with three goals and two assists in league games and had six goals and two assists in the team's 18 total contests.

Flack was the team's central midfielder playmaker and started all 10 conference games. He was responsible for starting the team's attack and routinely went from sideline to sideline to help the Cobbers keep possession of the ball. While not having the big goal and assist numbers, Flack was one of the keys to the Concordia offense and defense and helped lead CC to more conference wins in 2012 than in 2011.
