Glogoza Earns Academic All-District Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/06/12)—Concordia junior midfielder Matt Glogoza was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team and is now eligible Academic All-American honors.

Glogoza, who started all 18 games for the Cobbers this season, has a double major in Chemistry and Biology and carries a 3.73 grade point average. He was one of only four student/athletes from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to earn Academic All-District honors.

Glogoza stepped into the starting lineup at the beginning of the season and led the team in assists. He was a key factor in helping the team winning more overall and conference games in 2012 than in 2011. He finished the year with five assists and had a career-high two assists in the team's conference-opening win against Hamline.

Formerly known as the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American honor, Capital One took over the sponsorship of the CoSIDA Academic All-American award program in 2010. CoSIDA began this program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the second year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and doubles the number of scholar-athletes honored. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

Concordia is included in District 6 and includes NCAA Division III institutions from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
