McGlynn Earns Third Straight All-MIAC Award
Moorhead, Minn. (11/10/11)—A trio of
Concordia players earned MIAC postseason honors it was announced by
the MIAC league office on Friday. Senior Riley
McGlynn (Hampstead, N.C.) was named to the MIAC
All-Conference Team while sophomore goalie Peter
Runquist (Woodbury, Minn.) earned MIAC All-Conference
Honorable mention honors and senior Andy
Iverson (Sr., Bemidji, Minn.) was the school's
representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
The three players helped the Cobbers post a 5-10-3 overall record
in 2011 and earn 18 total wins in the past two seasons. During the
2011 campaign Concordia had a 4-3-1 non-conference record and beat
regionally ranked team St. Scholastica and Augustana (Ill.).
McGlynn capped his tremendous career at Concordia by earning his
third consecutive All-MIAC award. He is one of only a handful of
Cobber players in the history of the program to accomplish the
feat. McGlynn led the team in scoring in overall and conference
games for the second straight season. He fished with six goals and
five assists for 17 points in all games and had three goals and
three assists for nine points in conference play. He was third in
the MIAC in overall shots in league games and tied for fourth in
shots per game.
Runquist has steadily improved into one of the best goalies in the
league and was rewarded for his stellar play throughout the season.
He played in 14 overall games in 2011 and had a goals against
average of 1.67. He also recorded four shutouts on the year. He was
sixth in the MIAC in saves per game and eighth in total
saves.
