M-A-T Keeps Unbeaten Streak Rolling

STORY LINE: The M-A-T line continued to deliver as they scored three of the five Cobber goals in Concordia's 5-1 win over St. Olaf in the series opener. Mario Bianchi opened the scoring in the first period, Aaron Herdt got the eventual game-winner in the second and then Tyler Bossert put the game out of reach early in the third. The Cobbers' top line combined for seven points on the night and had 10 shots on goal.

RECORDS: Concordia extends its unbeaten streak to four games. The Cobbers are now 5-2-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play. St. Olaf loses for the third straight conference game and is now 3-5-1 in all games and 1-3-1 in the MIAC.

WHEN YOU'RE HOT YOU'RE HOT:
Senior Mario Bianchi continued his scoring tear when he snapped home the first goal of the game at 11:41 of the first period. Bioanch continues to lead the MIAC in goals scored and total points. His first-period snipe was his 11th of the season. He has scored at least one goal in seven of the team's nine games.

BOSS MAN: Tyler Bossert scored Concordia's fourth goal of the game at 1:09 of the third period. It was only his third goal of the season. Bossert has excelled at setting up his linemates and he recorded his 13th helper of the year when he got the assist on the game-winning goal in the second period. Bossert is now second in the MIAC in points with 16.  

GAME WINNER: Aaron Herdt got the game-winning goal when he put home a power play goal from the right side of the net at the 9:58 mark of the second period. Herdt has the most balanced stat sheet of the M-A-T line as he has put up seven goals and notched seven assists. His 14 points is fourth in the conference.

POWERFUL PLAY: Concordia scored three of its five goals on the power play. All three came in succession. Herdt started the trio and then Quinn Fuchs got his first goal of the season at 18:47 of the middle frame before Bossert added the third man-advantage strike in the second minute of the third. The Cobbers were 3-for-3 on the power play against the Oles and are now 7-for-28 (25.0%) on the PP this season which leads the MIAC.

BRACKO CONTINUES TO ADD UP: Freshman Jacen Bracko is quietly having a strong first season. He added the fifth goal of the game and now has three goals and five assists for eight points. His point total is third among all first-year players in the conference.

MOVING UP THE LADDER: Junior goalie Jacob Stephan made 22 saves in the series opener and dropped his goals against average to 1.82 on the year. That mark is second best in the MIAC. He is also second in save percentage with a 94.0 mark.

UP NEXT: Concordia and St. Olaf will finish off the 2-game series on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Cobbers are 3-0-1 in games played on a Saturday this season while all the Oles are 2-1-0 in Saturday contests.
