STORY LINE: Concordia scored three goals in the first 11 minutes of their series finale at Bethel to earn a 4-0 win and come away with five points on the conference-opening weekend. The Cobbers recorded a shootout win over the Royals on Friday night to start the series.

RECORDS: Concordia remains unbeaten in its last three games. The Cobbers are now 4-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the MIAC. Bethel continues to look for its first win of the season. The Royals are now 0-7-1 in all games and 0-1-1 in league play.    

KILLER B'S: The Cobbers received goals from Jacen Bracko, Joe Burgmeier and Mario Bianchi to spring to the three-goal lead midway through the opening period of play. Bracko got the eventual game-winning goal at 2:45 when he scored an even-strength goal. Burgmeier doubled Concordia's lead at 5:13 before Bianchi tallied a shorthanded goal at 10:50 to finish off the trio of Killer B goals.

JACOB'S WALL: Junior goalie Jacob Stephan made 27 saves to earn his second shutout of the season. He also pitched a shutout against Gustavus in the second game of the year. Stephan played in the opener as well and stopped 29 shots. Stephan now has a 1.98 GAA and is 3-1-1 on the year. He is now third in the MIAC in GAA and his 93.8% save percentage is also third in the league.

M-A-T LINE KEEPS ROLLING: Mario Bianchi, Aaron Herdt and Tyler Bossert continued to rack up goals and points for the Cobbers. Bianchi had a goal in each game and now has a league-leading 15 overall points. He also leads the MIAC with 10 goals on the season. Bossert is second in the MIAC with 14 points and leads the conference in assists with 12. Bossert had a goal and an assist on Friday and then one helper on Saturday. He has put up a point in seven of the eight games. Herdt is tied for third in the league with third with 12 points. He had the fourth goal on Saturday and added an assist in the opener and has also put up at least one point in seven of the eight games.  

BIG GOAL BOSSERT: Perhaps the biggest goal of the weekend came on Friday night when Tyler Bossert scored in the final two minutes of regulation to tie the score at 3-3. The Cobbers trailed 3-1 after two periods before Mario Bianchi got CC within one at the 8:09 mark. Bossert then got the game-tying goal at the 18:31 mark which kept Concordia from dropping three points and gave the team the momentum in OT.

SHOOTOUT TALK: Concordia won their first shootout of the season after all three Cobbers shooters found the back of the net. Bossert, Tanner Okeson and Aaron Herdt were all successful while Bethel missed on both of their attempts.

PENALTY KILL PROWESS: Concordia didn't give up a power play goal on the weekend and killed off a huge 5-on-3 situation for a full two minutes in the second period. The Cobbers held the Royals scoreless in their six attempts on Saturday and four on Friday. The CC PK unit is fifth in the MIAC with an 88.6% success rate.         

UP NEXT: The Cobbers will have a 2-week break for the Thanksgiving holiday. Concordia will return to action when they host St. Olaf in a 2-game series on Nov. 30-Dec. 1. The Oles are 3-3-1 in all games and 1-1-1 in the MIAC.
