STORY LINE: Concordia's rally came up a goal short in the series opener on Friday at Wis.-River Falls and then the Cobbers skated to a 1-1 overtime on Saturday in their final series before starting MIAC play.

RECORDS: The Cobbers are now 3-2-1 on the season while River Falls moves to 3-1-2 and is unbeaten in four straight games.

SLOW START: Concordia started the weekend by falling behind 2-0 in the first 10 minutes of the opening period. The Cobbers got a goal back in the final five minutes of the period but then the Falcons scored two more times to start the second period.

FINISH WITH A FLURRY: After the Cobbers fell behind 4-1, Concordia stormed back to score three of the final four games. Aaron Herdt got the first of his two goals at the end of the second to bring CC to within two at 4-2. River Falls got the eventual game-winning goal at 5:16 of the third period before Marshall Barnes scored his first collegiate goal at 10:47. Herdt added his second just 1:44 later to get the Cobbers within one at 5-4.

SCORELESS 63:15: Saturday's game was a defensive showdown as the teams played 63:15 of scoreless hockey. The two goals in the 1-1 ties came 1:45 apart in the second period and then neither team could score in the final period or overtime. Kyle Siemers notched his first goal of the year for Concordia to give CC a 1-0 lead at 6:10 but then River Falls countered with their only goal at 7:55.

CAM THE MAN: Cobber sophomore goalie Cam Haugenoe rebounded from a 4-2 loss in his home opener and stopped 39 shots on Saturday and only allowed one goal. He dropped his season goals against average to a team-leading 2.24.

M-A-T LINE DELIVERS: Concordia's top line of Mario Bianchi, Aaron Herdt and Tyler Bossert continued their early-season scoring tear. Bianchi had a goal and two assists on Friday while Herdt had two goals and Bossert added an assist. The three players have now combined for 14 of the team's 19 goals.
  
UP NEXT: Concordia will open MIAC play next weekend when they travel to Blaine to play at Bethel at the National Sports Center. The Royals are 0-6 on the season.
