Freshman Jon Grebosky taps home the game winner after a Wayne Gretzky-like pass from Jordan Christianson.

Christianson's Gretzky Impersonation Nets Winner

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/07/15)—As passes go, Jordan Christianson's Wayne Gretzky-special to the tape of Jon Grebosky's stick is about as big as Mount McKinley. Christianson fed Grebosky on a silver platter and the Cobber freshman tapped home the game winner in the final three minutes of play to give Concordia a 4-3 win over St. Olaf.

The regulation win give Concordia four points for the series and keeps them in sole possession of second place in the MIAC standings. CC is now 7-4-3 in conference play which is good for 25 league points. The Cobbers trail league-leading St. Thomas by two points and are three points clear of St. Mary's. Concordia is now 12-7-4 overall.

For most of the first two periods it didn't look like Concordia would need Grebosky's late-game tap-in heroics. The Cobbers outshot the Oles for the first two periods of play and held the advantage in possession in the other team's offensive zone.

Concordia coasted out to a 2-0 lead in the fourth minute of the second period and continued to apply the pressure to push the lead even farther. The game took a complete 180-degree turn in the span of 1:21 when St. Olaf scored on a fluke goal and then added another on a power play to tie the game at 2-2 at the 14:31 mark of the second stanza.

From that point forward it was any team's game to win.

The Cobbers got a momentum-swinging score in the final minute of the second period when freshman Zach Doerring one-timed a shot off from between the circles that caught the St. Olaf goalie off guard and once again gave Concordia the lead. Dalton Mills fed Doerring on the play after skating the puck up the left wing from just outside the CC blue line.

Both teams had quality chances in the first half of the third period. The Oles once again tied the game when they scored an even strength goal at 13:42.

The game appeared to be headed for the second overtime session of the weekend before Christianson orchestrated the game winner.

Christianson took a pass from the left side boards and controlled the puck just above the right face-off circle. As the defense slid over to stop Christianson, he slid a perfectly time pass to the back side to Grebosky who fired home his second goal of the game and 11th of the season.

Concordia vs. St. Olaf Highlights - Feb. 7, 2015

The Cobbers then had to withstand a penalty kill situation in the final 1:30 of the period before earning the win.

Grebosky scored his first goal of the game at 3:11 mark of the second period when he chased down the puck after an errant shot caromed off the back wall. He was the first player to the puck and was able to fire it into the open side of the goal before the goalie could get across the crease.

Jordan Krebsbach opened the scoring for Concordia. He scored on a power play at 8:00 into the first period. Krebsbach had the snipe of the game as he went bar down from the right face-off circle to notch his second goal of the season.

Concordia was outshot 32-30 for the three periods. Jeremy Johnson led all players with six shots on goal.

Jordyn Kaufer made his second start of the series and made 29 saves. He is now 7-3-3 on the season and is second in the MIAC in goals against average in league games with a 1.90 mark.

The Cobbers will hit the road for their final regular-season series of the year. Concordia will play at St. Mary's in a two-game series on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14.
