Suderman Becomes Eighth Cobber All-American

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/24/14)—Concordia senior captain Caleb Suderman can add another title before his name. Suderman became the program's eighth All-American as he was named to the American Hockey Coaches' Association (AHCA) All-American First Team.

Suderman becomes only the fifth Cobber player to earn AHCA All-American First Team honors and first since Bryan Howard won back-to-back first team honors in 1999-2000 and 2000-01. He is one of only four players from the MIAC this season to be named to the All-American First or Second Team.

Suderman led the nation in scoring by a defenseman in 2013-14. He recorded a career-high 30 points and had at least one point in 19 of the team's 26 games. Suderman finished with 16 goals and 14 assists on the year. His goal total was second highest among defenseman in Division III.

The All-American honor comes after Suderman was named the Co-MVP of the MIAC as well as being placed on the MIAC All-Conference Team for the fourth straight season. He was also named as a finalist for the Sid Watson Award which goes to the best player in NCAA Division III as presented by the AHCA. Suderman didn't win the award but he was the first Concordia player to be named as a finalist.

Suderman also recently signed a professional contract with the New York Rangers East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate the Greenville Road Warriors. He has played in four games for the Road Warriors and has scored a goal and has six shots on net.

Suderman finished his career at Concordia with 73 career points which is the most by a defenseman in Cobber men's hockey history. Suderman had 35 goals and 38 assists in his 103 games in maroon and gold.
