Suderman Signs Pro Contract

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/13/14)—Concordia senior captain Caleb Suderman signed a pro contract with the New York Rangers East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) affiliate the Greenville Road Warriors. Suderman, who was named the Co-MVP in the MIAC earlier in the week, has already joined the South Carolina club.


Suderman led the nation in scoring by a defenseman and capped his career by scoring 30 points in his senior season. He finished with 73 career points which is the most by a defenseman in Cobber men's hockey history. Suderman finished with 35 goals and 38 assists in his 103 games in maroon and gold.

Greenville is the AA affiliate of the New York Rangers and is currently in third place in the South Division of the Eastern Conference. The Road Warriors were formerly the Johnstown Chiefs.  The Chiefs started in the ECHL's first season in 1988 and then relocated in 2010. The Road Warriors are the second ECHL franchise to play in Greenville, as the city hosted the Greenville Grrrowl from 1998-2006.

Suderman scored at least one point in 19 of the team's 26 overall games this season. He recorded points in 11 of the 16 conference games and finished with nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in league play.

Suderman's first game for Greenville will be on Sunday, Mar. 16 when the Road Warriors host South Carolina Stingrays who currently lead the South Division. Suderman will wear the No.20 sweater for Greenville when he makes his debut on Sunday.
