Suderman And Bancroft Highlight MIAC Awards

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/05/13)—Caleb Suderman and Jordie Bancroft highlighted the Cobber contingent that earned MIAC postseason honors it was released on Tuesday. The two were Concordia's selections to earn All-Conference honors.  

In addition to Suderman and Bancroft, junior goalie Chris Neamonitis was named to the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team and senior Brian Kang was the team's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

The four players helped Concordia post a 10-6-0 record in conference play and a tie for third place in the final league standings. The 10 MIAC wins was the most since the 2000-01 season. The Cobbers also made the semifinals of the conference postseason tournament for the second time in the past three seasons.

Suderman, the team's top defenseman, earns All-Conference honors for the third straight season. He finished third in the conference in scoring among defensemen. He had four goals and five assists in league play. Suderman has finished in the top 10 in scoring among defensemen in all three seasons he has played in maroon and gold and now has 27 career conference points. Suderman led the team in plus/minus rating in league games. He had a plus-five rating in his 16 MIAC games.  

Bancroft was one of the young guns for Concordia. He led the team in scoring for overall games and conference contests. He finished the year with nine goals and five assists for 14 points in the team's 16 league games. He had at least one point in 11 of the 16 MIAC games and finished fourth in the conference in points by a freshman.

It marks the second straight season that Neamonitis has earned postseason honors. He also was placed on the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team last year. Neamonitis started all 16 MIAC games this season and finished fifth in the league with a 2.27 goals against average. He had a 93.1% save percentage and was fourth in the conference in save percentage.
