JAMESTOWN, N.D. (9/17/18)---Freshman Matt Kulla is making collegiate golf look easy. In his first three college tournaments he has recorded two Top 3 finishes and has broken the Concordia single round school record.

Kulla continued his first-year firestorm by finishing in a tie for second at the Jimmie Fall Classic and helping the Cobber claim the team title. Kulla shot 3-over 147 (72-75) as he trailed the individual medalist by a single stroke.

Kulla opened his college career by placing third at the Augsburg Invite and has now topped that finish with the runner-up spot in Jamestown.

Concordia needed to come from behind to grab their second straight team title. The Cobbers shot a 303 on Sunday and entered Day 2 of the Jamestown tournament trailing Valley City State by seven shots and host Jamestown by six strokes. CC then rattled off a 297 on Monday to win the team crown by five shots.

The 297 on Day 2 is the second lowest individual round team total of the season for the Cobbers. Led by Kulla's school record 65, CC carded a 293 in the very first round of the season at the Augsburg Invite.

Concordia had three other golfers finish in the Top 10 of the Jimmie tournament. Senior Nathaniel Kahlbaugh started with a 77 and then came home in 73 to post a total of 150 which was tied for fourth place with teammate Gage Stromme. Stromme was better on Day 1, shooting a 74 and then dropped to a 76 on Monday.

Freshman Ryan Paskey gave Concordia a pair of first-year players in the Top 10. He recorded a 74 on Sunday and then finished with a 78 for a 152 which pushed him into a tie for seventh place.

TIGHT AT THE TOP: Matt Kulla and Nathaniel Kahlbaugh are staging a back-and-forth battle for the top spot on the Cobbers. With his 147 at Jamestown, Kulla lowered his season average to 74.7 which is just ahead of Kahlbaugh's 74.8 mark. Stromme is third on the team with a 75.8 average.
