Season-Opening School Record

HAM LAKE, Minn. (9/02/18)---Freshman Matt Kulla set a new school record in his very first collegiate round and went on to finish third at the season-opening Augsburg Fall Invite. Kulla's first-round milestone helped Concordia finish in a tie for fourth place in the final team standings.

Kulla fired a 65 on Saturday which included a birdie on his last hole to break the school record of 66. He then carded a 77 on Sunday to finish at 142 which was three shots of the winning score of 139. Kulla's total of 142 is the lowest by a CC athlete at the Augsburg Fall Invite since 2014 when Coy Papchek shot a consistent 140 (70-70) and won the tournament.

As a team the Cobbers finished with a two-day total of 597 (293-304). They tied with Neb. Wesleyan in the team standings and were 12 shots behind St. Thomas who captured the team title.

Kulla and senior Nathaniel Kahlbaugh were the only two CC golfers to finish under 150. Kahlbaugh went out with a 72 on Saturday and then posted a 76 on Sunday for a total of 148 which earned him a tie for 14th place.

Gage Stromme was the team's No.3 finisher on the weekend. He posted scores of 79 and 75 and was tied for 38th place.

Tyler Bossert and Nick Meland rounded out the Top 5 for CC. Bossert went 77-78 for a total of 155 while Meland recorded scores of 81 and 77 for a 158.
