Sixth Straight Top 20 For Montplaisir

MONTICELLO, Minn. (4/30/17)---Cade Montplaisir finished off his college career with another Top 20 finish and helped Concordia finish 12th at the St. John's Spring Invite which was cut short by 18 holes due to bad weather.

Montplaisir finished with a 36-hole total of 148 (75-73) and came home in a tie for 15th place. It was his sixth straight Top 20 finish to end his senior season and the 23rd Top 20 finish in his four-year career.

The tournament, which was scheduled to have 36 holes on Sunday, ended after the first round on Day 2 due to the harsh weather in Monticello and at the Monticello CC.  

Montplaisir was the only Cobber golfer to post back-to-back rounds in the 70's. He bettered his opening round of 75 by two shots in the second round. Montplaisir ends the year with a team-best 75.4 average.

Blake Kahlbaugh and Gage Stromme finished within two strokes of one another and were Concordia's No.2 and No.3 golfers on the weekend. Kahlbaugh struggled on Saturday and carded an 82 at the Territory GC in St. Cloud. He then rebounded on Sunday to fire a 75 and he finished in a tie for 54th place with a total of 157.

Stromme's two-day total was two shots behind Kahlbaugh at 159. He had his best round on Saturday when he posted a 78. He then had an 81 in the rainy, cold and windy conditions on Sunday.

Nathaniel Kahlbaugh and Jared Lind rounded out the Cobber team at the SJU tournament. Nathaniel Kahlbaugh had a 78 on the first day but then had a hard time in the weather and recorded an 86.

Lind was one shot behind Nathaniel Kahlbaugh. He opened with an 85 and then finished with an 80.
