Consistent Cards At Bobby Krig Invite

LASUEUR, Minn. (4/24/17)--- Concordia came through with three consistent rounds and finished in 11th place at the Bobby Krig Invitational hosted by Gustavus.

The Cobbers carded three team totals within four shots of one another as they played the second of their three tournaments this spring.  

Concordia fired a team total of 308 in the first of two rounds on Monday. CC then shot a 312 in the final round at LeSueur CC. The Cobbers ended the meet with a total of 930 (310-308-312) and were only six shots out of finishing in the Top 10.

Like the team totals, Concordia's individuals also played consistent golf from the first to the last rounds. CC's Top 5 golfers all had came home with three rounds that were only sperated by five shots.  

The Cobbers had two golfers who carded scores in the 70's in all three rounds. Senior Cade Montplaisir had a 54-hole total of 225 (76-72-77) and was the only Concordia golfer to place in the Top 20. He climbed to as high as 13th place after the second round and the finished in 20th place.

It is the fifth straight Top 20 finish for Montplaisir. 

Trevor Swangler also had three straight rounds on 79 or better. He had identical scores of 78 in the first two rounds and then dropped two shots in the final 18 and finished in 33rd place with a total of 232.

The Kahlbaugh brothers were Concordia's No.3 and No.4 golfers for the tournament. Nathaniel Kahlbaugh beat his brother by three shots. He opened with a 76 and then had an 80 on the opening round on Monday before finishing with a 79 and a three-round total of 235.

Blake Kahlbaugh had bookend scores of 80 and sandwiched a 78 in between. His final total of 238 put him just outside the Top 50 of the meet.

Gage Stromme was the most consistent golfer at the tournament. Stromme carded three straight rounds of 83 and finished with a total of 249.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will finish off the spring season when they participate at the St. John's Spring Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 29 at Territory GC and Sunday, Apr. 30 at Monticello CC.
