Poss And Montplaisir Named All-MIAC

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/09/16)—The MIAC office announced that senior Landon Poss and junior Cade Montplaisir have officially been named to the MIAC All-Conference Team. Montplaisir was also the team's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

The league releases the All-Conference list after the spring portion of the season even though the conference championship meet takes place in the fall.

Poss and Montplaisir both earned MIAC All-Conference honors by virtue of their Top 10 finish at the conference tournament on Oct. 3-5.

Poss placed with a three-day total of 222 (78-75-69) while Montplaisir finished in third place after carding rounds of 73-70-77 and posting a final total of 220.

Poss earns All-Conference honors for a third time. He is one of only a handful of Cobber golfers to ever earn more than two All-Conference honors. Poss also took home the award as a freshman when he finished eighth at the MIAC Meet and when he finished second as a sophomore.

Poss' final score at this year's conference meet was the lowest of his three all-conference seasons. He fired a 227 (71-80-72) when he recorded the runner-up finish in 2013.

Poss was second on the team in scoring during the fall and spring seasons. He averaged 75.2 strokes over his 17 rounds and had three top 5 finishes and three top 10 finishes for the year. His low round of the season came in the third round of the conference tourney when he shot a 69. That score helped him move up 10 places in the individual standings and move from 15th up to fifth and into all-conference status.

Montplaisir earns his first-ever all-conference honor after fired the lowest three-round total at an MIAC meet by a Cobber athlete since 2010. Montplaisir's total of 220 was the lowest by a CC player since Andrew Whitchurch won the meet with a score of 215 back in 2010.

Montplaisir finished the year with the lowest scoring average of any Concordia player. Montplaisir averaged a score of 74.6 over his 19 rounds played in the fall and spring. He finished in the top 5 in three different events and had four top 10 finishes.

Like Poss, Montplaisir's low round of the year came at the MIAC Championship Meet. He carded a 2-under 70 in the second round which put him in the lead of the tournament heading into the final day of competition.
