Season Low In Season Finale

MONTICELLO, Minn. (4/24/16)— Concordia finished off its spring season by placing eighth at the St. John's Spring Invitational.

The Cobbers made a big comeback on Sunday at the Monticello Country Club. CC entered the day in 14th place but then shot a pair of sub-300 team totals to move up six spots and finish in the top 10.

Concordia ended the year on the perfect not by firing a team score of 286 which is the lowest single-round team score of the year by a full eight strokes. It is the lowest round by the Cobbers since the opening meet of the 2014-15 season when they carded a 282 in the second round of the Concordia Invite.

Junior Cade Montplaisir was the most consistent of any Cobber golfer and finished as the low man on the team. He recorded rounds of 74-73-73 and finished with a three-round total of 220. His six-over finish was good for a tie for 21st place.

Montplaisir finishes the year as the top CC golfer. He averaged 74.6 strokes per round in his 19 rounds this season. That number is a career low. Last year Montplaisir was second on the team at 75.5. Montplaisir's season stroke average this year ties for the lowest by a Cobber golfer since the 2009-10 season when Pat Deitz had a 74.0 stroke average.

Zach Whitchurch, Landon Poss, Trevor Swangler and Nathaniel Kahlbaugh all finished within four strokes of one another to round out the Top 5 for CC at the season-ending meet.

Whitchurch put up a 226 (76-77-73) and was tied for 40th place. Poss struggled in the opening round but then went lower and lower on Sunday and finished at 229 (82-76-71). Swangler also came home in 229. He struggled in the opening round on Sunday and shot an 83 but then responded with a 69 in the final round. His 69 was the low round of any Concordia golfer at the tournament and tied for the lowest score by any CC golfer this season. Kahlbaugh was one shot behind Poss and Swangler at 230. His best round of the weekend came in the first round on Sunday when he carded a 72.
