Poss Is Poised To Peak

JORDAN, Minn. (9/28/15)--- Landon Poss is beginning to peak at just the right time. The senior tied his season best score in the final round of the Twin Cities Classic and finished in a tie for 12th place out of 113 golfers.

Poss' three-day total of 223 (75-76-72) helped Concordia place eighth at the tournament which is the final competition before the MIAC Championship Meet. The Cobbers fired two rounds in the 200's as they ended with a total of 911 (297-315-299). The 297 in the opening round at Elk River GC was a season low for Concordia.

Poss, who earned MIAC All-Conference honors in 2012 and 2013 before having to miss most of last year due to hip surgery, has now carded six straight rounds in the 70's as he enters the conference tournament. Poss' 72 in the final round marks the third time this year he has posted a final round score of 72.

Poss lowered his season average to 75.7 for the year. He is currently second on the team in scoring average this season.

Concordia had two other players finish within three shots of Poss in the final standings. Junior Cade Montplaisir came home in 225 (74-77-74) and tied for 18th place. It is his fourth straight top 20 finish of the year. He has also posted nine straight rounds in the 70's this season and leads the team in scoring average with a 74.6 average. Last year he was second on the team with a 75.5 average.

Freshman Nathaniel Kahlbaugh used the strength of his runner-up finish at the Cougar Invite last week to record his first top 25 finish at a multi-team event. Kahlbaugh had two rounds in the 70's, shot a season best 71 in the opening round and finished at 226 (71-81-74) to place in a tie for 23rd place.

Sam Hendricks and Mark Huneke rounded out the squad for the Cobbers at the meet. Hendricks shot a 241 (77-82-82) while Huneke was one shot behind at 242 (82-81-79)

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will now compete in the MIAC Championship Meet on Oct. 3-5 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids. The Cobbers have been in the top 5 at the conference meet in eight of the past 11 seasons.
