Papachek Helps Cobbers Cut Down Jimmies

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/15/15)—Jamestown and the 30-40 mph winds were no match for Concordia as the Cobbers cut through the wind and rolled over the Jimmies 5-1 in the second dual match of the spring season.

Senior Coy Papachek displayed his All-Conference ability by firing an impressive 72 in the non-golf conditions at the Meadows Golf Course. He closed out his match on the 14th hole and beat his opponent 6&5.

The Cobbers won four of the four matches before the 16th hole. Cade Montplaisir fired a 78 and won 5&4 in the first match of the day. Landon Poss won 6&4 by shooting a 78 while Alex Koopmeiners carded a 76 and won his match 5&4.

Montplaisir, Poss and Koopmeiners all won their second straight match of the spring. Koopmeiners leads the Cobbers in the early stages of the spring season. He has a total of 146 in the two rounds.

The fourth member of Concordia to push his record to 2-0 for the spring was freshman Mark Huneke. Huneke won the fifth match of the dual at 3&2. He ground out an 86 to earn the win.

Concordia will host an Alumni Meet on Sunday, Apr. 19 before finishing off the spring schedule at the St. John's Spring Invite on Apr. 25-26.
