What A Difference A Day Makes

MONTICELLO, Minn. (4/29/13)—Concordia made a dramatic improvement on their second, and final, day of the 2013 spring season as they finished in fourth place at the 18-hole SJU Spring Invite on Monday at the Monticello Country Club.

A day after firing a pair of 300-plus rounds, the Cobbers rallied to record a 294 which beat regional foe UW-Eau Claire and NCAA Division II squad St. Cloud State. The final team total of 294 represents a 20-stroke improvement over their best round from Sunday on the same course. It also ties for the lowest team round fired by the Cobbers in the fall or spring seasons.

Senior Jordie Siverson capped his Concordia career by firing a 72 and finishing in a tie for seventh place. It was the lowest round of either the fall or spring season for Siverson. The most dramatic turnaround of the two-day spring season was turned in by sophomore Coy Papachek. After struggling on Sunday and shooting a 168 (86-82), Papchek regained his freshman season, All-Region form and carded a two-over-par 73. He finished in a tie for 13th place which is highest finish in a tournament since the second meet of the fall season.

Freshman Landon Poss came home in 74 and posted another top 20 finish. He was tied for 19th place on Monday. Sophomore transfer Micah Megorden fired a 75 and finished in a tie for 25th place to give CC four players in the top 25.
