Cobbers Finish Off Tough Pre-MIAC Schedule

WAYZATA, Minn. (10/01/12)—Concordia finished off their pre-MIAC Championship Meet schedule by finishing 10th at the always-tough Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus. The Cobbers fired two of their top three individual round team scores for the season as they finished with a final team score of 922 (305-298-319).

The first two rounds of the tournament proved to be the highlights for Concordia. The Cobbers opened with a team score of 305 on Saturday at the Elk River Golf Club and then followed that by shooting a 298 on Sunday at The Links at Northfork. The 298 marked only the second time all season that CC has shot under 300 in a single round. It was also the second lowest single-round score of the season.

Senior Jordie Siverson continued his hot streak. He led the Cobbers for the third straight meet. Siverson came home with a 3-day total of 226 (73-75-78) and finished in a tie for 17th place. The 17th-place finish represents Siverson's team-leading fourth top 20 finish of the season. He has also shot under 80 for seven straight rounds.

A trio of freshmen made up the No.'s 2,3 and 4 golfers for Concordia at the tournament. Landon Poss posted the best single-round score of any Cobber golfer at the meet. Poss carded a 71 in the second round at The Links at Northfork on his way to a tie for 21st place with a 227 (75-71-81). His second-round total of 71 is the second lowest score shot by a CC golfer this season.

Fellow first-year players Max Smith and Jordan Larson rounded out the top 4 for the Cobbers . Smith finished with a final total of 236 (79-80-77) and was in a tie for 51st place while Larson had a final total of 247 (78-86-83). Smith's round of 77 in the final day of competition was the lowest score by any Concordia golfer at the Wayzata Country Club on Monday.

The Cobbers will now turn their attention to the MIAC Conference Meet. Concordia will compete with the rest of the league teams in a three-day event on Oct. 6-9 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.
