Siverson Tosses Lucky 7's At UW-Eau Claire Invite

EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. (9/24/12)—The UW-Eau Claire Invite came up all lucky 7's for Concordia senior Jordie Siverson as he helped the Cobbers finish sixth in the 15-team tournament. Siverson shot a pair of 77's in the two-day affair and tied for seventh place.

Siverson's total of 154 marked his lowest two-round of the season. His final total was only four shots out of second place. It is also the first time Siverson has led the Cobbers at a two-round tournament in his career.

As a team, Concordia shot a 313-319 and was six shots behind fifth-place UW-Eau Claire. Luther College won the event with a final team total of 618 (304-314).

Siverson was the only CC golfer to post a pair of rounds in the 70's over the Eau Claire Golf & Country Club used for the event. Coy Papachek was second for Concordia, recording an 80 in the first round then rebounding to fire a 78 on day 2. Papachek finished in 23rd place. Freshman Landon Poss was one shot behind and finished in a tie for the 24th spot. He carded a 159 (78-81).  Andrew Whitchurch and Max Smith rounded out the top 5 for Concordia. Whitchurch shot a 161 (78-83) and Smith came home in 163 (80-83) as the No. 2,3,4, and 5 golfers all finished within five shots of one another.

Concordia will continue with their tough pre-MIAC schedule when they compete in the prestigious Twin Cities Classic on Sept. 29-Oct. 1. The tournament, which is hosted by Gustavus will be played at The Links at Northfork, Elk River CC and Rush Creek GC.
