Bemidji Blues Continue For Cobbers

BEMIDJI, Minn. (9/10/12)—Tradition reared its head in Bemidji as Concordia struggled with the tree-lined fairways at the Bemidji Town & Country Club and finished eighth at the Bemidji State Invite.

Concordia' two-day total of 625 is the highest team score in a two-round competition since the Cobbers played in Bemidji in 2010. CC shot a 310 on Sunday and then followed that with a 315 on Monday. The 310 and 315 continue a string of 300-plus team rounds at the Bemidji State Invite. In the past five times that CC has played in the invite, they have only broken the 300 barrier twice.

The Cobbers had their top 4 golfers all finish within eight strokes of each other. Sophomore Coy Papachek earned low-score honors for Concordia. He shot a 152 (75-77) and finished in a tie for 12th place. He was the only CC golfer to finish in the top 25. Andrew Whitchurch placed in a tie for 26th after carding a 155 (79-76). Dylan Ferrell and Jordan Larson rounded out the top 4. Ferrell went 76-82 (158) and came home in a tie for 32nd place. Larson, the only freshman on the CC varsity squad, shot a consistent 160 (80-80) and finished in a tied for 39th.

Landon Poss, who was playing as an individual at the tournament, fired the third best total score of any Cobber golfer. He shot an 81 on Sunday but then rallied to fire a 76 on Monday. The 76 on Monday was one of only five sub-80 rounds for Concordia in the invite.

Concordia will now head into competition against MIAC teams when they participate in the St. John's Fall Invite on Sept. 15-16 at Blackberry Ridge GC and Greystone GC in Central Minnesota.
