Under 300 In First Spring Meet
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (4/06/12)—Pat Deitzand
Coy Papachek finished 1-2 in helping the Cobbers
place second at the St. John's Triangular Meet on Friday at the
Territory GC in St. Cloud. Deitz fired a 2-under-par 70 while
Papachek was two shots back with an even par 70.
Concordia, competing in their first meet of the spring season,
finished with a team total of 298 which was only one shot behind
nationally ranked St. John's. The Cobbers held the lead at the turn
but then came up just short after a back 9 rally by the Johnnies.
The 298 fired by CC is only the fourth time they have fired a team
total under 300 during the 2011-12 campaign.
The only other Cobber golfer to finish inside the top 15 was
sophomore Barret Freeland who carded a four-over
76 and finished in a tie for ninth place. Tyler
Koivisto and Andrew Whitchurch both tied
for 16th place with identical 78's while Jordie
Siverson posted an 81 and Dylan Ferrel
came home with an 82.
Concordia will continue their spring season when they play in the
Valley City Invite on Apr. 15-16 at Village Green Golf Course in
Moorhead.
