Second Straight National Ranking
MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/12/12)— Concordia remains ranked in the top 25 of the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches' Division III poll. The Cobbers are now 25th in this week's rankings. It marks the second straight ranking period that CC is nationally ranked.
Concordia cracked the top 25 in the coaches' poll in the first
rankings period of the spring. The Cobbers were ranked
24th in the Mar. 21 rankings period.
It marked the first time in program history that CC had been ranked
in the top 25 of the official coaches' poll.
The Cobbers opened up their spring season by finishing second at
the St. John's Triangular Meet on Apr. 6. Concordia was only one
stroke behind St. John's who is currently ranked 11th in
the latest coaches' poll. CC is one of only three MIAC schools to
be ranked in the top 25. Besides the Johnnies, Gustavus is also
ranked 19th.
The Cobbers are led by senior Pat Deitz who
earned medalist honors at the SJU Triangular Meet. He shot a
2-under par 70. He leads the team through the fall and spring
seasons with a 75.0 average. Freshman Coy
Papachek, who finished second at the SJU Meet, is also
second on the team in scoring average with a 76.4 mark.
Concordia will participate in the Valley City Invite on Sunday,
Apr. 15 and Monday, Apr. 16 at the Village Green GC in Moorhead.
