Deitz And Papacheck Earn All-Region Honors
MOORHEAD, Minn.
(5/16/12)—Senior Pat Deitz and
freshman Coy Papachek earned Golf Coaches
Association of America (GCAA) All-Region honors it was announced on
Tuesday. Deitz and Papachek were both named to the Central
All-Region Team and Papachek also earned Central Region Freshman of
the Year honors.
The pair was two of only six golfers from the MIAC to earn
All-Region honors. Concordia was also one of only three teams in
the region to have more than one golfer to be named to the
team.
Deitz and Papachek were the top two players on the Cobber team
that won the prestigious Twin Cities Classic in the fall and earned
the team's first-ever national ranking. Concordia won four events
they participated in during the spring and fall and also posted
eight top 5 team finishes in the 10 season events.
Deitz led the Cobbers in scoring with a 75.4 average. He shot even
par or better on five occasions during the year and placed in the
top 5 in four different events. Deitz earned MIAC All-Conference
honors for the second straight season after finishing in a tie for
10th at this year's tournament. He was named the MIAC Golfer of the
Week on two occasions during the year and was the medalist at both
of the St. John's tournament in the fall and spring.
Papachek had an outstanding freshman season as he won two
multiple-team invitationals including the highly competitive Twin
Cites Class in the fall. Papachek finished the season second on the
team in scoring with a 76.2 average and had four rounds with a
score of even par or better. He finished in the top 5 in three
events and in the top 20 in eight of the team's 10 events. He was
named the MIAC Golfer of the Week on Oct. 10.
