Bio

Steve Carnal is in fourth season as one of the assistant coaches for the Cobber men's basketball program. He brings a wealth of coaching experience and basketball knowledge to the program. Carnal is in his 39th year of coaching. Prior to joining the Cobber coaching staff he was the head boys' basketball coach at Oak Grove Lutheran High Scholl in Fargo for 28 years. While coaching the Grovers, he led the team to the ND State Championship in 2000 with a perfect 28-0 record.

In 2005 Carnal recorded his 500th career win and ended up his career with 559 wins and an overall record of 559-223. During his tenure, his teams amassed 12 district championships, 22 regional appearances and three region titles.

Carnal is currently a middle and high school Social Studies teacher at Oak Grove Lutheran School. He and his wife Ruth have three children and four grandchildren.
