Senior Day Celebration

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/17/18)---Concordia honored its seniors before their final game of the 2018 season and it was one of those seniors who provided one of the biggest highlights of the game.

Joel Carter, playing in his first career game, came off the bench to the delight of his teammates and the crowd of 357, drove the lane and was fouled and then calmly swished straight free throws.

Carter's crowd-pleasing play wasn't enough as Concordia couldn't handle the outside-inside attack of St. Olaf and lost 90-60.

The Oles made four of their first five 3-pointers in the game to bolt to a 23-9 lead and then went inside and outscored the Cobbers 42-18 in points in the paint to earn the win.

Concordia finishes the year with a 6-19 overall record and a 4-16 mark in conference games. St. Olaf earns the No.2 seed for the upcoming league playoffs and is now 19-6 in all games and 15-5 in the MIAC.

The Cobbers were able to cut into the St. Olaf lead midway through the first half. Freshman Bryden Urie knocked down one of his three 3-ponters in the game and brought CC within eight points with 8:17 left in the opening half.

Unfortunately Concordia wasn't able to sustain the comeback and the Oles were able to go on a 15-3 run to push the lead to 20 points just before the break.

The Cobbers finished the game by shooting 41.2% (21-for-51) from the floor and 43.5% (10-for-23) from outside the arc. St. Olaf connected on 60.4% (32-for-53) of their shots from the field and 50.0% (10-for-20) of their shots from outside the arc.

Urie and Jordan Davis were the lone Cobber players to reach double digits for scoring in the game. Urie went 5-for-9 from the floor and led CC with 13 points. Davis was 5-for-6 from the floor and had 12 points.

Matt Veit came off the bench to lead Concordia in rebounding. He grabbed four boards in the game.

STAT ADVANTAGE: Besides the deficit in points around the basket Concordia also committed eight more turnovers in the game and the Oles used that advantage to hold a 31-4 edge in points off of turnovers.

SCORING LEADER:  Junior Collin Larson finished the season leading Concordia in scoring with an 11.6 points per game average. Larson scored in double figures in 17 of the team's 25 games.

FINISHING WITH A FLOURISH: Freshman Bryden Urie finished the year by averaging 7.4 points per game - which was fourth best on the team. However, Urie led the team for the final eight games by averaging 13.8 points. Urie led Concordia in assists for the entire season as he dished out 58 helpers. That total was two better than Larson.

DISTANCE SHOOTING STATS: Concordia's 10 made shots from behind the arc marked only the fourth time this season they have posted a double-digit 3-point total. The Cobbers went 1-3 in those games.
