Long Afternoon On Offense In Northfield

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (2/10/18)---It was a long afternoon for the Cobber offense as they scored 18 points in the first 20 minutes of play, finished under 50 points and lost 72-48 at Carleton.

Concordia went on an 0-for-7 streak five minutes into the first half and watched a 10-7 lead turn into a 25-10 deficit. The Cobbers would score eight points in the final 15:05 of the opening period and trail 42-18 at the break.

The Cobbers would put up 30 points in the second half and stay even with the Knights as both teams scored 30 in the second 20 minutes of play.

Concordia (6-17/3-14 MIAC) finished the game by shooting 39.1% (18-for-46) from the floor and 38.9% (7-for-18) from outside the arc. CC was 5-for-8 (62.5%) from the free throw line. The low shooting percentages coupled with 19 turnovers which led to 26 points for Carleton led to the Cobbers having their one-game win streak come to an end.

Carleton (13-10/11-7 MIAC) also held an edge around the basket. The Knights outrebounded the Cobbers 36-30 and collected a 34-18 advantage in points in the paint.

Junior Collin Larson was the only Concordia player with more than nine points. He finished with 11 points and was 3-for-5 from outside the arc. Larson also added four rebounds.

Bryden Urie came away with nine points, three assists and two steals. Jordan Davis and John Reiten combined for five blocks. Davis had two blocks, four points and four rebounds while Reiten had three rejections and two points.

REBOUND REVELATION: The win-loss rebounding stat for the Cobbers continued on Saturday. Concordia was outrebounded 36-30 in the game and is now 0-12 when they have fewer boards in a game this season. CC is 6-5 when they outrebound their opponent.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will finish off the 2018 season with a road/home two-game week. The Cobbers will play at Hamline on Wednesday, Feb. 14 and then host St. Olaf in the season finale on Saturday, Feb. 17 in the annual Senior Celebration game.
