A 1,000th To Remember

DULUTH, Minn. (11/26/16) --- Concordia was definitely in the holiday spirit of giving on Saturday at St. Scholastica. 

The Cobbers played inside-out and utilized the "extra pass" as they assisted on 24 of 33 made field goals in an 80-64 win over the Saints. 

Both teams entered Saturday 1-2 and Concordia leaves Duluth 2-2 heading into conference play as St. Scholastica drops to 1-3 overall. 

CC nursed a 38-33 lead at the break after Dawson Peterson connected on a corner 3-ball as time expired to extend the lead to five points. The two teams exchanged baskets for a majority of the first 20 minutes. 

Concordia came out of the half on a mission to put St. Scholastica away. They scored on 18 of the first 21 possessions of the second half to blow the game wide open. 

The Cobbs scored on the first six trips down the floor of the second half, including a pair of triples from Austin Nelson, to go on a 14-5 run. 

Peterson had a rebound-putback with 15:50 left to play and the Saints would not get within 14 points the rest of the way. 

CC extended their lead to as large as 28 at the 6:57 mark after Guilherme Saad buried a triple. 

Concordia shot 58.9% (33-of-56) from the floor and 11-of-21 (52.4%) from three-point land in the win. CC limited the Saints to shooting just 35.9% (23-of-64) from the field and 9-of-32 (28.1%) from beyond the arc. 

The Cobbers outrebounded St. Scholastica 42-33 and outscored the Saints 44-24 in the paint. 

For the second straight game five Cobbers reached double figures, paced by Nelson's 15 points. 

Saad provided a formidable bench option as he scored 12 points and added seven rebounds in the win. The Brazilian native has now scored in double figures in three consecutive games for the first time in his career. 

Zach Kinny drilled a trifold of 3-pointers en route to adding 11 points. He fell one assist shy of his first career double-double as he dropped a career-high nine dimes and hauled down six rebounds. 

Peterson and Dylan Alderman each finished with 10 points for Concordia. 

MR. 1000: Head Coach Rich Glas coached in his 1,000^th game as a head coach on Saturday. Glas, now in his 47th year of coaching, has been a head coach for 37 of those seasons. Now just two wins shy of reaching 600 for his career, Glas has averaged over 16 wins a season as a head coach. 

THE LONE WOLFE: Kevin Wolfe has quietly produced for Concordia off the bench. The 6-7 Sartell, Minn. product has averaged 9.3 points per game in just 13.3 minutes per game. He is shooting 76.5% from the floor and is averaging 4.0 boards per contest after his career-high seven rebounds against the Saints on Saturday. 

PER-40 STAT STUFFER: Wolfe's per-40 minute stats are off the charts. If he were to play all 40 minutes, he would average 27.9 points per contest.
