Cobbers Announce 2015-16 Recruiting Class

The Cobbers continued their local recruiting success by bringing in a pair of Fargo natives and one Moorhead graduate.

Collin Larson comes in as a shooting guard standing at 6'2". The Fargo-Davies product poured in 15 points, hauled down three rebounds and recorded a pair of steals per game as a senior. The Cobber coaching staff is excited about his abilities, saying "He has the tremendous ability to stretch the floor with his range. He will have a bright future in our program and in the MIAC."

The family ties continue to run deep at Concordia with the addition of Fargo North graduate Bryce Schroeder. His older brother, Kirk, graduated from Concordia in 2014. The coaching staff feels Schroeder possesses big upside with his large 6'6" frame, "He has the ability to play down low and can stretch the floor with his shooting ability. We can't wait to get him in a Cobber uniform." Schroeder averaged 11.5 points and 6.8 rebounds for the Spartans last season.

Larson and Schroeder come in with prior chemistry as they were teammates with ECI – a North Dakota AAU basketball team.

Jordan Davis comes to Concordia from Turtle Mountain, N.D. Davis is a 6'5" shooting guard and forward who can stretch the floor with his versatility and length. The coaching staff remarked, "Jordan has a never quit attitude and a scorer's mentality that will make him special at Concordia."
Davis put up 12.1 points per game and chipped in over five rebounds per contest.

Staying home to play for the Cobbers is Moorhead's own Shane Steckler. As a Spud, Steckler did a little bit over everything, averaging 11.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He is a cross between a point guard and shooting guard and fits both molds because of his lengthy 6'2" frame.

"Shane brings control and poise to our program," commented the coaching staff.

Standing at 6'8", Josiah Lindquist joins the Cobber program. Hailing from Milbank, South Dakota, he averaged 10 points and eight rebounds per game. Lindquist will be taking some time off to rehab some knee issues due to his continued growth, but the coaching staff is excited about the big man, saying, "Since he has the ability to shoot outside, we love the possibilities he brings with the things he can do."

The program is bringing in a rare transfer player this season in Guilherme Saad. Saad comes to the Cobbers as a red-shirt transfer from Minot State University. Saad is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil where in 2013-2014 he played on the Brazilian U19 National Team. He was also selected to represent Brazil in the Jordan Brand Classic Game and the Nike Global Challenge along with representing Latin American in the Adidas Nation Game.

The coaches comment on his foreign style of play, remarking, "A skilled post player with a great basketball IQ and court vision, Gui has the capability to shoot from beyond the arch with ease. We look forward to welcoming him to the program."

The final newcomer to the Cobber basketball team is Eli Beachy. Beachy, from Perham, enters his sophomore year after taking his freshman season off. He comes from a successful small town basketball program and figures to have the same success at Concordia. Beachy averaged 12 points, four assists and three steals as a senior at Perham. He led the Yellowjackets to two Minnesota state tournament appearances and garnered First Team All-HOL as a junior and senior.

The coaches commented, "He brings great court presence and control as a young point guard. We love the familiarity of success that Eli brings from his previous successes in helping Perham reach multiple state tournaments."

The Cobbers have a veteran squad lined up for the 2015-16 season as they return eight seniors who all figure to be in the rotation along as well as juniors Austin Nelson and Dylan Alderman
