Bolger Selected To USA Division III Team

MOORHEAD, Minn. (7/21/15)—Concordia All-MIAC forward Jordan Bolger has been selected to represent the United States as part of the annual USA D-3 men's team in their tour of Brazil at the end of July.

Bolger is one of 10 NCAA Division III players selected to the squad. The United States team will participate in a 10-day trip to Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro. Of the 10 players playing for Team USA, four are from teams in the MIAC. The other three players from the MIAC are Kyle Zimmerman from Bethel and Taylor Montero and Ryan Saarela from St. Thomas. The team will be coached by Bill Fenlon who is the head coach at DePauw University.

Bolger is a two-time All-MIAC forward who led the team in scoring for the second straight season. He averaged 14.6 points per game in overall contests and had a 15.4 points per game average in league play. Bolger was also the team's leading rebounder as he pulled down an average of 8.2 rebounds in the team's 26 overall games while coming away with an 8.8 rebound per game average in the 20 conference contests. 

Bolger finished the season ranked in the top 10 in nine different statistical categories in MIAC play. He was fourth in points per game and third in rebounds per game. Bolger's top stat categories came in field goals and defensive rebounds. He finished second in the MIAC in both categories. Bolger attempted 250 field goals and hauled down 121 defensive rebounds.

These players have been high achievers both on the court and in the classroom. They represent everything good that the NCAA Division III institutions have to offer."

The USA D-3 Men's & Women's Basketball Teams will begin their Brazil Tour 2015 in Orlando, Florida on July 21.  The tour runs from July 21-30.  After team orientation and practices in Orlando the team departs for Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday, July 22nd. The USA D-3 Basketball Teams will play doubleheader games (Men & Women) on July 23, 24 and 25 in the state of Sao Paulo versus selected teams from the region.  On July 26 the team travels to Rio de Janeiro for a game on July 27th.  The team will depart Brazil on the evening of July 29th and return to Orlando on July 30th.

While in Brazil the teams will experience educational, cultural and social aspects of Brazilian life through city, school and sports club visits.  While in Rio the team will be staying on the famous Copacabana Beach and touring the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugar Loaf, two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.
