Fraase Leads Long Range Win At St. Mary's

WINONA, Minn. (2/07/15)—Tom Fraase was the leader of the Cobber long-range shooters as he connected on four of the team's 10 shots from outside the arc in a 74-49 win at St. Mary's.
Concordia shot 52.6% (10-for-19) from outside the arc as they posted a team-high for most made 3-point field goals in a conference game this season.
Frasse finished the game with a game-high 16 points and helped the Cobbers win for the fourth time in the last five games. That stretch has pushed Concordia into a three-way tie for fourth place in the MIAC standings. CC is now 8-6 in conference games and 12-7 in all games.
The Cobbers led for most of the game at St. Mary's but it was a 24-6 run in the final nine minutes of the first half that put the game out of reach. Concordia went 10-for-14 from the field in that stretch and made five 3-pointers.
Concordia took a 19-point lead at 39-20 into the halftime break and then worked the margin to 30 points in the first nine minutes of the second half.
The Cobbers finished the game by shooting 46.4% (26-for-56) from the floor. It is the ninth time this season that CC has shot better than 45.0% from the field. Concordia is 8-1 in games where they shoot better than 45.0%.
Concordia held an edge in almost every statistical category. The Cobbers outrebounded the Cardinals 31-26 and had seven less turnovers than SMU. CC also enjoyed a 26-16 advantage in points in the paint and 17-12 margin in points off of turnovers.
Fraase's 16 points is the third time in the last four games he has scored in double figures. He also added three assists and two rebounds.
Brandon Giese was the only other Concordia player with more than nine points. He made a 3-point field goal and finished with 11 points. Senior center Scott Flotterud had eight points to go along with a season-high 10 rebounds.
Concordia will stay on the road for the first of two games against their fourth-place counterparts. The Cobbers will play at Bethel on Monday, Feb. 9 and then host Gustavus on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
