Four In Double Figures = Season-Opening Win

MORRIS, Minn. (11/15/14)--- Concordia had four players score in double figures, outscored Minn.-Morris in both halves and beat the Cougars 69-61 in the season opener for both teams.

The Cobbers have now won four consecutive season openers.
 
Concordia senior guard Brandon Giese led the CC double-digit quartet. Giese went 5-for-9 from 3-point range and finished with 17 points. His balanced scoring attack produced nine points in the first half and eight points in the second period. He finished the game by going 6-for-11 from the floor and added three rebounds and two assists.

A trio of juniors completed the four players in double figures. Brett Bergeson came off the bench to score 13 points and was 3-for-5 from behind the arc. Jordan Bolger and Tom Fraase had 12 points each. Bolger also had a game-high 11 rebounds and added four assists. Fraase connected on a pair of 3-point shots.

Junior guard Matt Ellingson gave the Cobbers solid minutes at the point and finished with a game-high six assists.

Concordia made seven more 3-point baskets in the game than Morris. CC was 11-for-26 (42.3%) from outside the arc. The Cobbers shot 47.3% (26-for-55) from the floor as well.

The Cobbers  will have a 10-day break before hosting their home opener. Concordia will square off against MSU Moorhead on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.
