Cobbers Earn National Academic Distinction

MOORHEAD, Minn. (7/28/14)—Concordia earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2013-14 Team Academic Excellence award it was announced by the NABC Committee on Academics.

The Cobbers finished the 2013-14 season with a 3.08 team grade point average and were one of only four schools from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to earn the academic distinction. It marks the first time in program history that the team has earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence award.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I and II, must carry a team GPA of 3.00 or higher and count the grade point averages of all men's student athletes who competed during the 2013-14 season.

The NABC awarded the academic excellence award in 2013-14 to less than 150 schools in all of NCAA and NAIA.

The Cobbers won six of their last 11 games in 2014 and narrowly missed out on the MIAC playoffs. Concordia has won 30 overall games in the past two seasons and has also recorded 23 league wins during that same two-season stretch.
