Fraase Earns MIAC Player Of The Week Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/03/14) – Concordia sophomore guard Tom Fraase was named the MIAC Player of the Week after his career-high 23-point performance against St. Mary's on Saturday. It is the first time in his career that he has won the weekly honor and he becomes the first Cobber player to earn the award this season.

Fraase becomes the second member of his family to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors. His brother John won the award twice in his career from 2007-2011.

In addition to Fraase's 23-point game against the Cardinals, he also scored 11 points against Bethel to help Concordia go 2-0 on the week and remain in the chase for an MIAC playoff spot. Fraase averaged 17.0 points over the two games and shot 60-percent from 3-point range and 55-percent from the floor.

Fraase's big week started with 11 points, as he connected on 3-of-5 three-pointers in a 61-51 win at home against Bethel. The Cobber guard added three assists and two rebounds and shot 4-for-8 from the floor. However, Fraase was just getting warmed up.

In Saturday's 83-70 win at Saint Mary's Fraase poured in a career-high 23 points while going 7-for-12 from the floor, 3-for-5 from three and 6-for-7 from the line. He added five rebounds, three assists and three steals to his great all-around performance. This season, Fraase's 47.7 percentage from behind the three-point arc ranks second in the conference, and he is averaging 10.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists, while also making 45.6 percent of his field goals and 84.2 percent of his free throws.

The Cobbers will play a pair of games this week as they continue their quest for their second straight MIAC playoff berth. Concordia will play at Augsburg on Monday, Feb. 3 and then return home to host St. Olaf on Wednesday, Feb. 5.
