Drive Time Leads To Season-Best Shooting Win

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/05/13)—Concordia held off a hot start by upset-minded Macalester, went on a 10-2 run just before halftime and rolled to a 99-70 win over the Scots.

The Cobbers had six players score in double figures as they recorded their fourth straight win. It marks the first four-game win streak since the 2010-11 season. Concordia has also won six of their last nine games and is now 7-4 overall. CC is 4-2 in conference play and in third place in the league standings.

Concordia was able to penetrate the Scot defense off the dribble all day long and came away with 42 points in the paint. The Cobber's ability to drive and score led to a season-high 66.1% (39-for-59) from the floor. The quickness on the perimeter also made it easy for Concordia to drive and dish for open 3-point looks. The Cobbers shot a season-best 64.3% (9-for-14) from outside the arc.

The 10-2 run at the end of the first period turned a back-and-forth avenue into a one-way street. Concordia came out of the break and pushed the lead to 21 points in the first 4:02. The Cobbers outscored the Scots 24-5 in the 6:46 sandwiched around the halftime intermission.

Concordia senior guard Aaron Lindahl led the scoring six for CC – coming away with a team-high 21 points. He was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc and went 8-for-9 from the floor. Fellow senior guard Dewon McKenzie routinely beat the Macalester defense off the dribble and came away with season-high 17 points. He was 6-for-7 from the floor. Brandon Fisher added 14 points, Jordan Boulger came off the bench to score 13 and Ebo Nana-Kweson and Andrew Martinson had 11 each. Bolger also had a career-high seven rebounds.

The Cobbers will now turn around and host St. Mary's on Monday, Jan. 7 at 5 p.m.
